There are so many reasons to have your newborn session in the comfort of your own home instead of a studio. I've narrowed it down to the top 3 here. While you read, enjoy these photos from this sweet baby boy's newborn session in Myrtle Beach. Scroll down to read more...

!. First and foremost, having the photographer come to you is just EASIER! Taking a newborn baby out is a huge ordeal, as you will find out when taking baby to the first doctor appointment. So much stuff to bring, so many things to think about. And we haven't even talked about how difficult it is to get yourself dressed and ready, much less looking camera ready. When I go to my client's homes for their newborn sessions, I bring the studio with me. Lighting, props, even clothing for everyone. You don't have to worry about packing anything up and also wondering if baby will cooperate because I'm coming to you and there really is no timeline (typical newborn sessions range from 2-3 hours depending on the size of the family).

2. Aside from convenience, one thing that new parents should consider is the safety of their baby. The more you take baby out in the world, the more likely they are to pick something up that could potentially make them very sick. Having your newborn session in the safety and comfort of your own home lessens the likelihood of baby picking up a virus. In many cultures outside of America, it is standard to not take a newborn out for at least a month to 6 weeks. Having your photographer come to you is just one more way to help with this.

3. The last reason is that it's just more personal. When I go to client's homes, I am capturing the details of the nursery they spent so much time making perfect (which will only stay that way for a minute before the crib is swapped for a toddler bed and so on..). We typically do some images sitting in the master bedroom and other areas of the house as well. This is your life as it is during the time you brought your baby home. Capturing all these details will bring you back to those moments each time you view your images. Studio images will have no details of your home at all. They will capture your baby but will not take you back to the first week you sat in your rocking chair with baby in your arms, and all the sweet details you put so much work into when you designed and furnished your baby's nursery. Sometimes pets are even able to be included in an in-home newborn session, which makes it that much more personal to you.

As you can see within this set of images (which is only a handful out of the 50 or so this family received in their gallery), there is a mix of lifestyle images with the client's home as their backdrop, and studio images that capture the details of baby. It's truly the best of both worlds. Most in-home newborn photographers do not bring studio lighting / studio set up for their sessions, but with me, you get it all.
